KFM Cancer Classic Ugly Sweater Party History
In October of 2009, KFMCC participant Dan Cunningham called Kevin Monahan. Inspired to do more, Dan asked if he and his wife Kris could put on a charity event for the KFM Cancer Classic. With the help from friend Jen Lantz and Lindsay Riepsa, Dan and Kris organized an Ugly Holiday Sweater Party. In December of 2009, the first Ugly Holiday Sweater Party (UHSP) for KFMCC took place at State Bar. The event raised over $1.5k. In December of 2010, the crew put the event together again and showcased many silent auction items, a raffle, a live band, and even more hideous sweaters. The event raised over $4.5k. The 2011 Ugly Holiday Sweater Party again raised the bar with a great venue, good food, more raffle items, and a collection of amazing silent auction items from a night at The Wit and a Larry Bird autographed basketball to Notre Dame, Bulls, Cubs, and Sox tickets, and much more. The event raised $6k. The 2012 Holiday Sweater Party moved to River North, overcame a Santa Clause bar crawl and had another successful event raising $5k and followed it up with an encore performance in 2013 raising $6.7k.
