KFM Cancer Classic
Elaine Zelmon Hall of Fame
In June of 2015, the KFM Cancer Classic celebrated 15 years of existence (beginning in 2001). The creation of the KFM Cancer Classic Hall of Fame (HOF) had been worked on and discussed for years prior and on June 5th, 2015, on the eve of KFMCC XV), the charter members were inducted into the KFM Cancer Classic Hall of Fame. The creation of this HOF is necessary and beneficial and will serve as a conduit to Recognize/Celebrate/Award those who have been responsible in making the event viable, successful, and meaningful.
The Hall of Fame is designed to be the highest honor achievable from the organization and as such will be exclusive and only recognize those who have distinguished themselves above all of their contemporaries.
Credentials/Qualifications:
There are 3 categories that nominees can be placed in order to reach the Hall of Fame. They include the following:
+Career Achievement in tournament play
+Career Achievement in Support (financial, in-kind, volunteer, etc,.)
+Above and Beyond Career Achievement in Embracing the Spirit of KFM Classic
Process:
Nomination:
-Nominations are submitted electronically via KFMCC official website.
-Nominations can come from KFM participants/attendees/donors only. Nominations submitted by non donors are not reviewed.
Review of Nominations:
After deadline of submissions, a group of voters consisting of a panel of at least 5 members elects 0-2 members per year.
- The panel consists of the KFM Chairman of the Board (Kevin Monahan), 1 board member, 1 unaffiliated neutral 3rd party, and one regular attendee. In addition, all inducted H.O.F members are voters for life.
- Prior to voting, a biography of all candidates including their nomination is submitted to voting members. Members vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (3 pts for first place vote, 2 pts for 2nd place vote, and 1 for 3rd place vote). Voters are not required to vote for 1st-3rd and can abstain from any votes if they believe no candidates qualify (i.e. Voters are not required to induct 2 members each year).
- Inductees per year (minimum to max): 0-2
- Limit of years on ballot: No limit to # of years on ballot
- Limit of nominees on yearly ballot: No limit to # of nominees
*The above rules/guidelines can be changed as needed only with a 75% vote of panel.
Timeline:
Nomination Period Open, Post event to end of calendar year
Jan 1 - Feb 1 - Nominations reviewed and voted on
Feb 2 - Inductees informed of nomination
Feb 2 - Inductees informed of nomination
Ceremony:
Formal dinner and ceremony held the night before KFM event. Ceremony includes dinner, presenter of inductee, and speech by inductee.
H.O.F. Membership:
Year of Induction
-Invitation to participate in Formal ‘Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony’ dinner w/ your guests on night before KFM Cancer Classic.
-Choose presenter for your induction
-Make speech at ceremony
-Plaque presentation at induction
-Honored at following day’s KFM Cancer Classic
-Elaine Zelmon KFM HOF Cup will be inscribed with each new class of inductees
Existing H.O.F. members
-Lifelong Voting rights for future H.O.F
-Option to participate in ‘Champions Bus’ arrival to Classic (from local proximity)
-Bio and picture on KFM website (under H.O.F tab).
